Our adventures allow you to:

• Trek through pristine tropical rainforest.
• Explore remote areas of Gunung Leuser National Park.
• Camp beneath the rainforest canopy.
• Experience traditional river tubing.
• Enjoy exciting white water rafting.
• Discover hidden waterfalls and jungle rivers.
• Visit authentic villages on the edge of the rainforest.
• Encounter extraordinary wildlife throughout the journey.

Whether you are traveling solo, as a couple, with friends, or in a private group, our tours are designed to balance adventure, comfort, and safety.

Experience the Ultimate Rainforest Adventure

Gunung Leuser National Park is one of Indonesia’s most spectacular natural treasures. Covering thousands of square kilometers, this UNESCO-recognized rainforest protects an incredible diversity of ecosystems, from dense jungle valleys to mountain landscapes.

A Sumatra Jungle Adventure Tour is not simply a hike through the forest. It is an immersive journey where every day offers a different experience.

• Walk beneath giant rainforest trees that have stood for centuries.
• Cross rivers using traditional tubing.
• Camp under the stars surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.
• Wake to the calls of gibbons and tropical birds.
• Navigate scenic trails through one of Asia’s richest wildlife habitats.

Every adventure combines physical exploration with opportunities to appreciate Sumatra’s extraordinary biodiversity and untouched landscapes.

Adventure Activities in Gunung Leuser National Park

Our Sumatra Jungle Adventure Tour includes a variety of outdoor experiences that can be combined according to your preferred itinerary.

1. Jungle Trekking

Explore rainforest trails with experienced local guides who know the terrain, wildlife habitats, and hidden corners of Gunung Leuser National Park.

Whether you choose a half-day trek or a multi-day expedition, every route showcases the incredible beauty of Sumatra’s tropical rainforest.

2. Jungle Camping

Spend a night deep inside the rainforest for a truly immersive wilderness experience.

Camping allows you to experience the jungle after sunset, enjoy freshly prepared meals at camp, and wake up surrounded by nature.

3. River Tubing

One of Bukit Lawang’s most enjoyable traditions is floating along the Bohorok River using large inflatable tubes.

This relaxing activity offers a memorable way to finish a jungle trek while taking in beautiful rainforest scenery.

4. White Water Rafting

Adventure seekers can extend their itinerary with an exciting rafting experience on the Wampu River.

Navigate exciting rapids while passing waterfalls, lush forests, dramatic cliffs, and remote countryside landscapes.

5. Tangkahan Jungle Experience

Continue your adventure beyond Bukit Lawang by exploring Tangkahan, often called the hidden paradise of Gunung Leuser National Park.

Here you can enjoy peaceful rainforest trails, natural hot springs, rivers, waterfalls, and responsible observation of Sumatran elephants from a safe distance.

Wildlife Along the Journey

Wildlife encounters remain one of the highlights of every Sumatra Jungle Adventure Tour.

As you travel deeper into the rainforest, you may encounter:

• Wild Sumatran Orangutans
• Thomas Leaf Monkeys
• Siamang
• White-handed Gibbons
• Long-tailed Macaques
• Hornbills
• Tropical birds
• Butterflies
• Reptiles
• Exotic rainforest flora

Because every tour explores natural habitats, wildlife sightings are always unique. Our experienced local guides maximize opportunities while ensuring animals are respected and never disturbed.

If your main goal is specifically observing wild orangutans, we recommend visiting our dedicated Bukit Lawang Orangutan Tour page, where you’ll find detailed information about wildlife-focused trekking experiences.
