Itinerary:
DAY 01: ARRIVAL JAKARTA – SIGHTSEEING
Arrive at Soekarna Hatta International Airport by flight schedule….
You will be warmly welcomed by our friendly driver/tour guide. You can directly check in to the hotel first, then check out some of Jakarta’s interesting museums, such as the Wayang (puppetry), Balai Seni Rupa (fine arts) and maritime museums. The National Museum is great for first-time visitors. For a city monument, don’t miss the Monas (National Monument) dedicated to the spirit of the Indonesian people. 2 overnight stays in Jakarta.
DAY 02: JAKARTA CITY TOUR (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Familiarize yourself with the city on a full-day tour of Jakarta with your local leader. Take in Sunda Kelapa port – where the Dutch first landed, temple-filled Chinatown and the old town of Batavia. See Si Jagur – an old Portuguese cannon ornately decorated with a disguised meaning. Visit a Chinese mansion (Chandra Naya) and gain an insight into the beautiful Peranakan architecture. Wander Fatahillah Square, then explore the religious side of the city at Cathedral Church and Istiqlal Mosque – the largest mosque in Southeast Asia. Tonight, you’re free to find some delicious local foods.
DAY 03: JAKARTA – BOGOR – BANDUNG (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will Bogor Botanical Garden with its collection of over 10,000 different species of tropical plants. The gardens officially opened in 1817. They were used to research and develop plants and seeds from other parts of Indonesia for cultivation during the 19th century. This is a tradition that continues today and contributes to the garden’s reputation as the center of botanical research. Proceed to Bandung via Puncak tea plantation, and an optional stop can be made here. Upon arrival in Bandung, direct to visit Angklung performance (Saung Angklung Udjo). The performance is shown by children and is a very interesting session. Angklung is a musical instrument made of two bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. The tubes are carved to have a resonant pitch when structed and are tuned to octaves. The base of the frame is held in one hand, whilst the other hand struck the instrument. This causes a repeating note to sound. Each of three or more performers in and angklung ensemble play just one note or more, but altogether complete melodies are produced. Arrive in Bandung, check in hotel. 2 overnight stays in Bandung.
DAY 04: BANDUNG DAY TOUR (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is a full day program to explore Bandung and its surroundings. A short drive within the city to the live of local people, then drive to Tangkuban Perahu mountainous area to see Tangkuban Perahu volcano. It is a dormant volcano which last erupted in 1959 and is a popular tourist attraction where tourists can hike or ride to the edge of the crater to view the hot water springs and boil mud up close. Take a walk around the craters, then head to the Ciater Hot Springs. Along the way, visit a local tea plantation to learn about the tea industry in Java, then continue to the hot springs for a relaxing soak to soothe the muscles. Later, you have a free afternoon and evening back in Bandung.
DAY 05: BANDUNG – YOGYAKARTA by TRAIN (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to train station of Bandung for departing to Yogyakarta (about 7 hours) by Argo Wilis train in first class. Arrive in Yogyakarta in the afternoon. Transfer to hotel and rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, you can make your own program to the famous Malioboro street, enjoy the hustle bustle and souvenir vendors, and try to bargain to get the best offer. 2 overnight stays in Yogyakarta.
DAY 06: YOGYAKARTA – CITY TOUR & EXCURSION TO BOROBUDUR (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will visit the Yogyakarta Sultan Palace of “Kraton” which is built in a grand and elegant Javanese architectural style, lies in the center of the municipality. It was built in 1756 by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. Next to the Kraton is the Taman Sari water castle, one bathing pool for the king and his wifes. Then Kotagede, a neat, little and old town of Yogyakarta which was once the seat of the mighty Mataram kingdom, you will have the chance to visit the silver works industry. Then drive to Borobudur, a Buddhist Temple located 42km west of Yogyakarta. It is one of the world’s most famous temples, standing majestic and serene on a hillock overlooking lush green fields and distant hills. The shrine is the world’s and most complete of Buddhist reliefs. Afternoon return to Yogyakarta.
DAY 07: YOGYAKARTA – EXCURSION TO PRAMBANAN – SOLO (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will visit the magnificent Prambanan Hindu Temple. The temple is a 9th century Hindu temple compound dedicated to the Trimurti, the expression of God as the Creator, the Sustainer and the Destroyer. It is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and is one of the largest in Southeast Asia. Then continue to visit the nearby Sewu Temple, located within the same complex of Prambanan. Then drive to Solo at Mangkunegaran Palace, a classical repository of classical Javanese art and culture. It has numerous priceless treasures which is believed to be from Majapahit century. Overnight stay in Solo.
DAY 08: SOLO – KEDIRI (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. From Solo drive to Sukuh Temple, which has a distinctive thematic relief from other temples where life before birth and sexual education are its main theme. Drive through the scenic areas of Tawangmangu and Magetan with its beautiful panorama. Arrive at Kediri in the afternoon, a lively city where one of the biggest cigarette companies, Gudang Garam, is located. Overnight stay in Kediri.
DAY 09: KEDIRI – MALANG – BROMO (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today drive to Mount Kelud to see its phenomenon, with its new-born dome of Kelud (this visit is subject to condition at the time). From Mount Kelud, heading to Malang via Batu. Malang is a delightful town of well-planned parks and wide, tree lined avenues. Once a major coffee growing center, there is still a lingering and agreeable air of Dutch influence throughout this country town. From Malang, continue the drive upward to Bromo. Overnight stay in Bromo.
DAY 10: BROMO TOUR SUNRISE – IJEN (B)
Very early, your guide and a jeep driver will be waiting for you at the hotel to attend one of the most spectacular sunrises in Indonesia. Even though you must get up early, it will be worth it. You will climb to a high point first in full darkness and, little by little, the first rays of sun are giving way to a huge and indescribable caldera that makes up the entire view of the Bromo and Semeru Natural Park. With Bromo, a volcano of great fumaroles and behind it, the Semeru Volcano with explosions every 20 minutes, will make you have one of the most rewarding experiences ever. After enjoying the sunset, by jeep, we will go to the slopes of the volcano where you can go to the Bromo volcano and after climbing some stairs you can reach the very edge of its crater and see the impressive activity it has. We return to the hotel to cool off and enjoy your breakfast. At the agreed time, we will leave for our next destination, the Ijen volcano. This section lasts about 7-8 hours by car where we will make a stop to eat. Take this trip to rest. Arriving in Ijen, we will leave you at your hotel, check in and enjoy your deserved rest. Overnight stay in Ijen.
DAY 11: IJEN TREKKING – BALI DROP OFF (B)
The day has finally come to visit one of the most attractive volcanoes in Indonesia! One of the last open pit sulfur mines that survives on the planet. Once we pick you up at your hotel, you will head towards the village of Licin to reach the slope of the volcano to begin the steep climb to the crater of the volcano. During this trek, your guide will give you double filter masks to protect you from the natural chemicals of sulfur. At an altitude of 2883 meters and when dawn begins, an incredible contrast of colors will open before your eyes. A yellow earth scene and a large turquoise blue lake inside the crater that contrast with a suspended white cloud that is continuously expelling the volcano. In turn, among so much beauty you will see the local miners do what is said to be one of the toughest jobs in the world. These miners go down to the crater of the volcano to load 80 to 100 kilos of sulfur on their shoulders and then sell it. After this amazing experience on the edge of Ijen volcano crater, we begin the descent with an incredible panoramic view of the mountains that make up the national park. We will take you to your hotel to cool off and have breakfast and we start the journey to Bali for about 5 hours at least, depending on where you stay in Bali. To do this, we will go first to the port of Banyuwangi where we will take the ferry to cross to Bali. It is a journey of only 30 minutes but remember to adjust your watch by an hour due to the time zone change. The driver/tour guide will drop you off at your hotel in Bali and say goodbye. Tour ends then welcome to the island of the Gods.
