Itinerary:
Day 01: ARRIVAL PADANG – KERSIK TUO (B) / 7-8 hours’ drive
Arrive at the airport of Padang with flight….
You will be warmly welcomed by our friendly driver. Today you drive to Kersik Tuo for 7-8 hours’ drive. Impressive route along the western coastal route. Enroute pass through the twin lake Diatas and lake Dibawah. Then visit Telun Berasap waterfall at Letter W, and then pass tea plantation at Kayu Aro. Arrive in Kersik Tuo and overnight stay in a simple accomodation in Kersik Tuo in the famous Kerinci nature reserve. Overnight stay in Subandy Homestay or similar.
After dinner, you will meet with our leader and crew to explain the details of the hike and all the important things.
Note: We recommend taking a morning arrival at 10.00 Am so that you arrive at the hotel in the afternoon about 06.00 Pm.
Day 02: HIKING TO CAMPSITE – MOUNT KERINCI NATIONAL PARK’S GATE – SHELTER III (B,L,D)
After breakfast at homestay, we’ll head to TrailHead using a local vehicle for 30 minutes. arrive at the Trailhead (1800m) the climb to campsite shelter 3 begins. Along the way you will pass through the tropical rainforest with 3 stopping points post 1 to post 3 there many beautiful birds if you are lucky you will see several types of mammals such as Siamang Gibbon and Surili Sumatra then Shelter 1 (2550m) where lunch. After enjoying lunch heading to Shelter 2 (3100m) through the sub-montane forest and then campsite Shelter 3 (3349m). Upon arrival at the campsite, you will be welcomed with hot tea, beautiful scenery, and sunset. Before the rest, our crew will present a fully cooked warm dinner at the campsite to keep your energy high. Stay in a tent.
DAY 03: SUMMIT ATTEMPT – DESCEND TO TRAILHEAD THEN TRANSFER TO HOMESTAY IN KERSIK TUO (B,L)
After a hot tea or coffee, we start well before sunrise to start the final but climb up very steep. As it gets light, a spectacular view of Kerinci gets slowly into sight. Finally, we will stand on the highest volcano in Southeast Asia “Mount Kerinci (3805 masl) with an incredible view over West Sumatra and Jambi, with many other volcanic peaks, mountain ranges, and lakes around and below us not only that, the active crater of Mount Kerinci, 300 meters deep, is also in front of us. After some time spent on or around the summit, we head to the campsite, take brunch, and then descend to the trailhead and homestay. In the afternoon we will reach Kresik Tuo Village and have some rest. Overnight stay in Subandy Homestay or similar in Kersik Tuo.
DAY 04: KERSIK TUO – PADANG – AIRPORT/HOTEL (B) / 6-7 hours’ drive
Breakfast at the homestay. Today we drive back to Padang by passing through the same route. Arrive in Padang, we will directly transfer you to the airport of Padang to catch your onward flight (the flight schedule should be in the evening time) or in hotel. Trip ends here and wishes you enjoyed your holiday with us!

SPECIAL NOTES FOR HIKING MT. KERINCI :
Physical and Mental Preparation
Climbing Mount Kerinci is not technical, but it requires stamina and determination.
Physical Training:
- Start training 1–2 months before the trip.
- Focus on hiking, running, or cycling for endurance.
- Build leg and core strength with squats and stair climbs.
- Practice hiking with a backpack to simulate real conditions.
Mental Readiness:
- Be prepared for fatigue, cold, and unpredictable weather.
- Keep a positive mindset — patience and persistence are key.
- Trust your guide and keep a steady rhythm.

Essential Packing List
Kerinci Paradise provides all shared equipment (tents, sleeping bags, cooking gear, etc.), but you must bring your personal items.
Clothing:
- Base layer (synthetic or merino wool, not cotton)
- Fleece or light down jacket
- Waterproof jacket and pants
- Warm summit gear (thick jacket, hat, gloves)
- Trekking pants (two pairs)
- Several pairs of hiking socks
Footwear:
- Waterproof hiking boots with good grip
- Optional camp sandals
Accessories & Essentials:
- Backpack (30–40L) with rain cover
- Headlamp with spare batteries
- 2–3 liters of water capacity
- Sunscreen and sunglasses
- Personal medication and toiletries
- Snacks and energy bars
Expert Tip:
Weather on Kerinci changes quickly. Always carry your rain gear and an extra layer, even on clear mornings.
